Mohammed bin Rashid attends DPC syposium on social media

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended a special symposium on social media organised by the Dubai Press Club (DPC), part of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO), at the Grand Hyatt Dubai today.

The symposium, which discusses culture and responsible usage of different social media channels, was attended by a host of journalists and media personnel from the region and across the world. A number of seasoned media and Information Technology (IT) professionals from government departments are also taking part of the interactive discussion sessions.

DPC Executive Director Maryam bin Fahad briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the objectives of holding this specialised symposium that sheds light on the usage of different social media channels that have become a way of life for many and an important source of information for professionals alike.

Sheikh Mohammed applauded the efforts of Dubai Press Club and highlighted the significance of social media and its role in spreading knowledge and culture in addition to bridging the gap between executives and the public across almost all sectors.

Accompanying Sheikh Mohammed to the symposium were Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi and Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman and a number of officials.
