UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended a ceremony to mark to the country's 39th National Day celebrations at Zayed University this morning.

Following a rendition of the national anthem, Sheikh Mohammed viewed a documentary film about the UAE federation and the march of the founding leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Sheikh Mohammed later listened to the words of writer Abdul Ghaffar Hussein in an appropriately titled piece called, 'Zayed ? personal reservoirs in leadership'. The prominent writer's address featured personal insights into the pivotal role that Sheikh Zayed played in shaping the UAE's history and the beginnings of the federation. The founding father's strong leadership, wisdom and great love for his people and homeland shone right through Hussein's delivery. The audience also heard about Sheikh Zayed's deep respect and kindness towards others.

After the speech, Sheikh Mohammed inaugurated an exhibition organised by female students featuring photographs and drawings of Sheikh Zayed and works detailing the development and modernisation of the UAE. On listening to a poem in his honour delivered by one of the students, Sheikh Mohammed praised the country's sons and daughters, describing them as the leaders of the future. During his tour of the exhibition, he also commended the efforts of Zayed University and the Higher Colleges of Technology, who, with the follow up of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, organised the National Day events and activities with sincere care and attention.

The students expressed their great happiness with Sheikh Mohammed's visit, calling on the Almighty to protect the country's leadership from all evil.
